If you didn’t “check in” at your latest holiday destination, how can your friends and family envy you, right? Facebook has recently come up with an interesting study into honeymoon travel. Facebook gathered data from couples who “checked in” at destinations more than twenty miles from their homes within two weeks after posting a marriage life event.
The first nine spots were bagged by beautiful beaches. Surprisingly enough, Las Vegas ranked first for international honeymooners as compared to American honeymooners. As Facebook puts it, “Newlyweds from the US were much less likely to check into Las Vegas on Facebook than couples from outside the US.”
South Koreans are willing to travel more than halfway across the globe to spend their honeymoon while Americans’ prefer staying within a 500 mile distance.
Astonishing enough, no European destinations featured in the top 10. While the stunning cities of Hawaii cities ranked second and third, Mexico’s picturesque beaches came in at fourth and fifth place.
Top honeymoon destinations around the world:
1. Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
2. Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, USA
3. Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii, USA
4. Playa del Carmen, Mexico
5. Cancun, Mexico
6. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
7. Montego Bay, Jamaica
8. Antalya, Turkey
9. Castries, St. Lucia
10. Gramado, Brazil
