The 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance is an 805 horsepower beast with a hybrid powertrain. With a 0-60mph time of 2.7 seconds, the new flagship variant is the quickest production vehicle Mercedes-AMG has ever built

Mercedes has added a new flagship variant to its GT line-up. Meet the beastly 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance, the quickest-accelerating production vehicle Mercedes-AMG has ever built. If you’re familiar with the German automaker’s naming convention, you’ll know that the E Performance suffix is added to the variants with a hybrid powertrain. The latest offering is no different, which gets a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 at the front and an electric motor at the back.

While the combustion engine alone produces 603hp, the e-motor pushes the combined output to 805hp. However, the most impressive figure is the tarmac-ripping 1,047 pound-feet of torque churned out by the hybrid powertrain. As a result, the GT63 S E Performance can accelerate from zero to 60mph in just 2.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 199mph

The permanently excited synchronous electric motor, under normal conditions, powers the rear wheels through a two-speed transmission and limited-slip differential. However, it can also send its power to the front wheels if the system detects slip and the front needs more traction. The e-motor draws power from a lightweight 6.1-kWh AMG-specific battery which is located right above the rear axle. Mercedes has equipped it with a direct cooling system that helps maintain a consistent temperature for maximum performance at all times. The electric-only range will be announced later by Mercedes.

Since the GT63 S E Performance is a PHEV, it can be charged with the help of a 3.7-kW on-board AC charger or electric regeneration. The coupe gets four levels of regeneration, including an EV-like one-pedal mode. The gas engine is mated to a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to all four wheels through Mercedes-AMG’s 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system. Things like rear-axle steering, AMG Active Ride Control suspension with roll stabilization, and carbon ceramic brakes are all provided as standard equipment.

The variant also gets a bespoke active aero system, which has been specifically designed to optimize performance for the hybrid powertrain. The GT63 S E Performance will reach dealerships in the US in late 2024. The pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but we expect it to start at around $200,000.
