Miffy celebrates 2011, the year of the Rabbit, with a 6 kg pure gold calendar

Its time for the year to change very soon, and this year, it’s the year of the rabbit. If you want a cool gift to ring in the new, you’ve seen many calendars, right from the Hello Kitty variant to the one from Porsche Design and the solid gold one from Ginza Tanaka. After giving the world keepsakes like the golden Santa and the gold Mount Fuji, Ginza Tanaka has launched a Big Calendar 2011 edition of pure gold called “Miffy 2011”. As Miffy, the female rabbit, turns 55, the celebrations have begun with a 64 cm long and 40 cm wide calendar with his logo. Priced at ¥55 million ($658,400), the calendar features a Miffy crafted out of 6kgs of solid gold. The character first appeared in a picture book launched by Dutch writer Dick Bruna in 1955.
