The Lamborghini Diablo could never match the popularity of its predecessor, the legendary Countach; nevertheless, the V12-powered flagship supercar is one hell of an Italian masterpiece. However, if you want to add one to your personal collection, this particular example is something you definitely want to check out! This 1997 Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster is going to be up for auction at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale event. Before we list all the special qualities of this stunning 90s supercar, there’s one piece of information you should know. This particular Diablo was custom-built for the former president of the United States, Donald Trump.

The listing claims the supercar to be a one-of-a-kind as “Trump was allowed to custom-order this Diablo because of a special relationship with Lamborghini, which provided him with some ‘loaner’ Diablos for … promotional purposes.” Back in 2016, the same Lamborghini was put on sale on eBay at a price of $460,000.

The V12 monster features a special Blu Le Mans paint job, which wasn’t officially available in 1997. Additionally, the custom Diablo also gets a “Donald Trump 1997 Diablo” plaque on the driver-side door, which further highlights the special relationship Trump shared with Lamborghini.

On the inside, the Diablo comes with a tasteful two-tone interior that combines black with off-white. Other highlights inside the cabin include a digital climate controller, an analog clock, an Alpine audio system, and an H-gate shifter. Trump owned the car until the summer of 2002. Since then, it has been owned by two more people and has 24,836 km (15,432 miles) on the odometer. Strangely, the Lambo had 23,586 km (15,277 miles) on its odo back in 2016 when it was available on eBay. However, the listing notes that there is a “mileage inconsistency.”

Underneath the hood is a mid-mounted 5.7-liter V12 engine capable of churning out 492 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual that sends the power to all four wheels. The Italian supercar had a claimed 0-60mph time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 202 mph. The Diablo comes with literature, tool bags, and a cover, and it appears to be in great shape. It’s a rare machine as it is one of the only 132 units earmarked for the United States between 1997 and 1999. There’s no pre-sale estimate on the Lambo, but it’s being auctioned without a reserve price. Do you think it can fetch a million dollars? Maybe the Trump connection might help.
