Review: Appreciating delightfully healthy fare at the all-new Kitchen Garden outlet at BKC

The idea of healthy eating never sounds appealing because it conjures up images of plain steamed vegetables or a bowl of bland tasting salad. However, given the right approach to whipping it up, even the healthiest dishes can taste delightful, proves Kitchen Garden by Suzette. We got a sneak peek into their new outpost at BKC and put the food to test.

As we stepped in the sprawling new space of 1300 square feet spread across an inside-outside seating, the urban garden evoked a wellness vibe with a pop of funk. An intriguing illustration with a map of India displays the domestically sourced ingredients across all of India. Our culinary journey started with the Pink Detox Juice which with the goodness of pomegranate, pineapple, lime and chia seeds was healthy and exotic in equal measure. The Yellow Smoothie with mango, pineapple, passion fruit and banana also managed to tick the right boxes.

Salad

The Kale Caesar Salad with kale romaine lettuce, grilled chicken, cherry tomatoes were delectably spruced with parmesan shavings, sourdough croutons, caesar dressing and a dash of a lime squeeze. For sandwiches, we zeroed on the Chicken Basil Sandwich that with grilled chicken, fresh and roasted tomatoes, feta, pesto and fresh basil that didn’t disappoint our taste-buds. The flavors of the Falafel bowl with grilled chicken, mixed leaves, barley, gluten-free falafels, roasted pepper and tomato hummus, and chickpeas were elevated parsley dressing and celebrated every morsel of it.

Our favorite from the night remains the Warm Grain Bowl with roasted cottage cheese, quinoa, black rice, seasonal veggies and shakshuka which simply teased our taste-buds with the tantalizing flavors. For dessert, the Chia and Coconut Pudding topped with homemade berry, cocoa nibs and toasted coconut shavings was a guilt-free indulgence that owned the culinary experience.

Our gastronomic journey at Kitchen Garden reinforced an even greater appreciation of clean eating and established firmly the benefits and ethos of fresh, organic produce. It debunked the notion that healthy food has to be boring and reaffirmed the fact that fresh ingredients, well-prepared dishes with some culinary genius can please the palate like nothing else.
