Review: A pamper sesh at the all-new Locks & Lustre Salon

To be sure, the long stretch of time we’ve spent at home has numbed the best of us. Many have let their regular beauty regimes take a back seat, with routines disrupted and inertia having set in, but self-care is more important than ever for a mental revival. That said, I decided to make time for a spot of indulgences, courtesy of an-all new salon at Lower Parel- Locks & Lustre Salon and my soul thanked me for it! Here I tried a Spa mani-pedi alongside an Olaplex Hair Treatment.

Given the safety concerns post-Covid, I was pleased to notice that at the salon safety measures like thorough sanitization and temperature checks were visibly demonstrated with increased transparency. Space is designed well and boasts of a section for people looking to work from the space as they pamper themselves (brownie point for this one).

I was started off with the Olaplex treatment. We all know that endlessly dyeing and coloring your hair can cause it to become dry and frizzy and generally just the worst. Hello, damaged ends. But, now there’s an in-salon treatment that can totally fix this. Yes, that was Olaplex for me. Formulated by a team of California-based US Scientists, Olaplex maintains the health of your hair, even after it’s been highly processed.

The first product used was the Olaplex No. 1 Bond Multiplier. This contains the concentrated active repairing ingredient. This first step in the process rejuvenated the proteins and strengthened those bonds to prevent future breaks. The second step involved the use of the Olaplex No. 2 Bond Perfector and has been designed to track and target any remaining broken bonds. The last step involved the use of Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector. And then finally, they rinsed out the product and apply shampoo and conditioner to the hair as usual. In just one session, I could see the difference for myself. My hair felt soft and it definitely restored the lost sheen that I was seeking in-salon hair treatments but could discover nowhere else before. My hair felt fuller, thicker, stronger, and healthier.’

This was followed by an extensive Spa Manicure and Pedicure. The scrubbing, the massage, the mask, everything was spot-on. Brownie points for refraining from the metal scraper that’s generally used in salons. This one gently sloughs away your dead skin layer to reveal supple skin. Overall, it helped me tame the tan and absolutely sit back and enjoy the process.

The highlight of the experience were the conversations with the brainchild of the salon, Gospi, someone whose dedication and sincerity shines through in the salon services. She mentions that she wants every working person to be able to come over to the salon and pamper himself once in a while and hence vouches for the concept of affordable luxury that the salon is aligned to. Having said that, they use the best, premium products in the beauty biz. Through the conversations and preening, I surrendered to bliss. From head to toe, I found all I needed for a well-deserved respite, and maybe even a few things to nourish the soul. It’s heartening to see Gospi’s passion and honesty transcend through the salon and its services-something that definitely casts its spell on you.
