Barbie does festive fashion with five designs by Steven Jones

First Barbie celebrated Selfridges’ toy store debut in various designer avatars, and now she has undergone a Christmas makeover, all courtesy Steven Jones. The master milliner has created five different looks for the famous doll, all of which have launched where else but in her very own Selfridges section.

Dressed in everything from cocktail dresses to floor-length gowns and velvet minis, the iconic beauty stuns with fashionable festivity. “Barbie is the most fabulous private client,” said Jones. “She came into the salon for her Christmas morning hat and left with five glamorous outfits! Barbie and I have the same design vision; we love tradition but have an eye for the future.”

These “glamorous outfits” include a fishtail frock for the ‘Happy Holly Barbie’ and a fantasy cocktail dress constructed out of a Santa hat for the ‘Santa Baby Barbie.’ The hat-tastic man has also made the ‘Toffee Ice Barbie’ (read: Barbie in antlers) and the Monroe-goes-to-space, ‘Snow Globe Barbie.’

And last but not the wintry least, the ‘Christmas Tree Barbie’ with a Christmas tree for a hat. “Barbie lights up my life! You can’t have a Christmas collection without having a Christmas tree. I also thought if you can’t be the fairy on top of the tree, why not just create a Christmas tree on your head,” said Jones (from what it seems) to the Barbie. The dolls are priced at $400 each.
