Galeries Lafayette windows will soon have Diane von Furstenberg written all over them

Making a statement through store windows seems to have become quite the norm in fashion. Not one, not two but ten artists transformed the windows of Bergdorf Goodman this year, Hermès did that with its own new Barcelona window, and now its Diane von Furstenberg’s turn with Galeries Lafayette, Paris.

After her “Journey of a Dress” retrospective held in Los Angeles earlier this year, the creator of the ‘wrap dress’ is taking the anniversary celebration of the iconic garment quite agreeably to the Galeries Lafayette flagship on Boulevard Haussmann. Where it will start from the main entrance and spread over 12 windows from Sept. 3 to 30 2014.

While onlookers can expect a glimpse of a capsule collection consisting 12 wrap dresses in six heritage prints, fashionistas can even expect to purchase them on the third floor of one of Paris’ most iconic boutiques. Along with a selection of bags and small leather goods, which, are part of the French retailer’s autumn theme “Pop’timisme”.

The Belgian designer has also fashioned a limited edition Amelia dress and 440 Mini bags in a signature leopard print exclusively for Galeries Lafayette. And if that isn’t already a whole lot, fans can even get a glimpse of the feisty designer herself when she drops in for a special event there in late September. If not, Von Furstenberg is also featuring in an advertising campaign shot by Jean-Paul Goude, set to break Aug. 25. Her anniversary-wrap dresses start at 413 euros, or $559 and would make quite the look for the upcoming Paris Fashion Week.
