Mercedes-Benz SL and SLC models get Designo and RedArt special editions


Mercedes is on a spree of launching special edition cars before this year’s Geneva Motor Show. After releasing information on the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landualet and the trio of limited edition models celebrating AMG’s 70th anniversary, the German carmaker has introduced two new special edition versions of the SL and SLC Roadsters – RedArt Edition and Designo Edition.

Starting with the SLC RedArt Edition, it is available for the SLC 180, SLC 200, SLC 250d, SLC 300 and SLC 43 AMG models. In terms of the special treatments received, red accents can be found on the front splitter, side air vents, wheels and the rear diffuser. On the inside, it includes black leather seats with silver pearl Nappa inserts and red contrast stitching. The steering wheel also includes carbon-embossed leather inserts while the AMG E-SELECT control lever is finished in fine Nappa leather with an embossed AMG logo. Eight different exterior paint options will be on offer including designo selenite grey magno and designo iridium silver magno.

The SL designo Edition package is available on both the SL450 and SL550 convertibles and focuses more on luxury by slapping more high-quality materials inside and out on the already posh SL models. Customers will get a choice between the Brilliant Blue Metallic or Cardinal Red Metallic paint. Additionally, it will arrive with 10-spoke AMG forged wheels – 19-inch up front and 20-inch at the back. Inside the car, the interior is full of designo badging along with upgraded leather, trim, floor mats, and white seat belts. Neck warming AirScarf, Active Multicontour Seats, and a host of active safety features come as standard equipment.
